GILLS ROCK, WI - The
Fall Color Show at Charlene's Gallery Ten in Gills Rock will focus on two painters, Marian Feider & Judith
Gahn Murphy. She invites art lovers to meet with the artists at the gallery on Saturday, Sept. 25 at a wine and
cheese opening reception from 5 - 7 PM.
Artist Marian Feider
considers herself a "realist at heart" despite her confession that, as an artist, she intends to deepen
the mystery.
"My philosophy is to create art from the beauty we see and enjoy around us, nourishing the soul and evoking
the mystery of life."
 |
Her works are nonetheless representational, but in a Wyeth-like manner
she seeks to portray realistic imagery that provokes deeper thought. |
Marian grew up in an artistic family environment, always considering it as one of her means of self-expression.
In 1982, after she raised her own family she began to study and pursue that interest with greater devotion. In
1999 she was awarded with a "Best of Show" for her watercolor included in a yearlong traveling exhibition
seen in four counties sponsored by a Milwaukee Interfaith organization. This 2004 exhibition of her watercolors
at Gallery Ten marks her first featured artist exhibit.
Judith Gahn Murphy
has been an active artist all of her life. Almost as far back as she can remember, she recalls having a paintbrush
in her hand. Judy began painting with acrylics at the age of eight and carried on throughout her school years,
finishing with an art degree from UW Madison.
| In 1997 she shifted from acrylics as watercolor became her medium of
choice. |
|
Judy explains, "I love the way the paint flows and the explosion of
colors. The nuances I get with watercolor are unlike any I'd produced with acrylic."
Judith Gahn Murphy has a passion to paint the small detailed things that catch her eye.
 |
She's inspired to capture images with bright, vibrant colors, reflective
surfaces and patterns found in nature. |
You can enjoy an exhibit of both artists' work at Charlene's Gallery Ten
in Gills Rock through October 29. Enjoy refreshments and meet Marian Feider and Judith Gahn Murphy on Saturday,
September 25, from 5 - 7 PM.
