SISTER BAY, WI - Here's a chance to find out if any young person you know of would enjoy singing in a choral group. Door County Children's Choir Director, Blake Siewert invites parents and children to experience the group dynamic of young voices lifted in song.

Each year in October, Siewert and piano accompanist Kim LaRae Larson set forth to create an exciting and completely harmonious musical performing troupe from interested and motivated students between the ages of 7 and 14.

The Children's Choir was launched in 2001 with over 25 enthusiastic young singers who came together each week in Egg Harbor to learn the art of choral singing. Siewert and Larson practiced and polished the group's talents and capped that first season off with a joint concert performance with the world-famous Chicago Children's Choir.

They entered their second season with a mix of returning talent and some newcomers, and finished with a delightful concert at the Miller Art Museum.

This year Blake Siewert is encouraging boys and girls to, "Catch the Spirit" of the Door County Children's Choir by attending a free 2-hour workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 6 - 8 PM at Bjorklunden in Baileys Harbor. Blake, Kim and returning choir members look forward to sharing the joy of singing out in a chorus with anyone who wants to give it a try.

"The primary goal in creating this choir is to provide an advanced choral experience for young singers from the 2nd through 8th grades - to develop their natural childhood singing voices, and to compliment musical training offered in public and private schools' music programs," says Siewert. "And we insure that with a very supportive and joyful environment."

The Door County Children's Choir enters its third year this fall with plans to meet and practice again in Egg Harbor, a convenient central location, starting in October. Newcomers and parents are always welcome and encouraged to join in the fun, share the teamwork and take pride in the end results.

Door County Children's Choir is a division of the Door County School of Performing Arts (DCSPA) whose mission is "to provide dynamic adventures in the performing arts".

Blake Siewert brings a great deal of experience and success to the school and choir he founded including having worked with thousands of singers, actors and musicians over the years, Kim LaRae Larson is a seasoned performer and keyboard instructor.
